About Linda Adams
I’m Linda Adams, a military war veteran and a fiction writer.
This is my personal blog. I write on social media, fiction writing, science fiction conventions, and the role of women. Sometimes I might post a cute cat photo, because we all need a little break from the week. Besides, I like cats!
I post about 2-3 times a week. You can get the latest posts by subscribing via WordPress or use an RSS feed in a blog reader. I also blog twice a month on Unleaded Fuel for Writers.
My Biography
I served in the Army, Army Reserve, and National Guard for about 12 years, and I was part of the wave of women who went to war during the First Persian Gulf War. It seems commonplace now, but then, it was a big deal. A lot of my commentary on the role of women was formed based on those experiences.
My current job is with the federal government as a travel administrator, and I live in the metropolitan district of Washington, DC. I’ve also done graphic design in association with PowerPoint, and have designed websites. I designed and managed an actor’s professional website for 10 years.
For the writing part of me, I started when I was eight years old because my best friend was writing a school play and I wanted to write like her. I started writing short stories and later experimented with poetry, articles, journalism, screenwriting. But my true love is fiction, and honestly, the other types of writing just aren’t as fun. Since I’ve always loved action-adventure and fantasy/science fiction, I’ve blended the two together in my contemporary fantasy/action-adventure thriller. One of the things I bring to the book is action-adventure for women, something I have longed for since I first watched Uhura on Star Trek reruns. My characters are like soldiers who have to deal with strengths and limitations and don’t have magic or science to bail them (makes for more fun action!).
I also participate in a critique group, the Cat Vacuuming Society. They are always looking for local members!
In my free time, I enjoy visiting art museums and going for walks in some of our state and national parks. I also am a big fan of science fiction, and I regularly attend conventions in the area.
