About Linda Adams

The Required Bio

I was raised in Los Angeles.  Just a hop, skip, and jump to get to the movie studios.  TV shows were often filmed on streets near where I lived.  At the same time, science fiction fandom took off with the sudden interest in Star Trek.  While other people were hooked on The Fonz, I was into Star Trek and Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea.

In 1989, I joined the Army Reserve and went active duty the same year, stationed on the West Coast.  In 1990, I was deployed to the first Persian Gulf War and then later transferred to Washington, DC.  I finished my military duty with the National Guard in 2001.  Now I do PowerPoint presentations and audio visual support.

How I Started Writing

I started writing when I was eight because my best friend had written a play.  I created my own girl detective series with a character named Sharon McCall.  I tried a variety of writing, including short fiction, poetry, non-fiction, journalism, broadcast journalism, screenwriting, newsletters, and even technical writing.  But my love has always been novels.

What I Read

If it’s action and adventure, I’m likely to be drawn to it like a moth to the light.  But I’ll read anything if the story looks like it might be good.

Current Projects

  • An urban fantasy that mixes magic with politics and celebrities
  • An urban fantasy/paranormal gothic tale of family secrets involving magic
